Residents who want to learn more or share their opinions about establishing a railroad ‘quiet zone’ through Jefferson are encouraged to attend a public meeting next Tuesday, July 26, at 5:30 pm on the second floor of the municipal building, 220 N. Chestnut St.
A quiet zone would eliminate the need for train horns by either closing railroad crossings or modifying existing crossings.
The city’s project engineer, Snyder & Associates, will have representatives at the meeting to provide information, answer questions, and help document suggestions and concerns.
Persons who want more information about the meeting can call city staff t 515-386-3111.
